hebrews 12 1 2 commentary

The saints of old were looking to not only a city whose architect and builder was God, but also to a person, the Messiah, Jesus Christ. By faith they saw Christ. It was this vision of Christ that motivated them to endure. Moses left Egypt having seen Him who is invisible. If we are to endure to the end, we too must be looking to the unseen Christ.
